Who we are, what we do

Home Who we are, what we do

Humane Animal Rescue and Trapping Team, Inc. (aka, HARTT) is a volunteer-based Arizona nonprofit organization that humanely captures lost family pets, homeless dogs, and homeless cats who are severely injured.  Typically, these animals cannot easily be leashed, picked up or captured through ordinary means.  Bringing these animals to safety often requires extraordinary patience, specialized strategy, skill and equipment, as well as time and resources.

Our volunteers do this work because they have a passion for saving at-risk animals.  They work on these cases after their normal work hours, when they are not caring for their own families, and often in lieu of more “relaxing” activities.  Most of our volunteers operate in Maricopa County, however we also serve the Rim Country near Payson, and Pima County near Tucson (for lost, owned dog cases only).  We also help to consult on cases in surrounding areas in Arizona based on volunteer availability. HARTT also trains, networks with and refers cases to other humane trappers in other areas of Arizona that we are unable to service.  Because of our organization’s specialized experience, we have even consulted on cases across the United States and as far away as Canada, Singapore and Poland.

HARTT is supported primarily by donations from the public; we have no government contracts and receive no government funds.
